Birthday's

There are so many birthdays coming up, agreed? There's today, next week, next weekend, the weekend after, and two weeks after that.  At least, those are the birthdays that I will be celebrating, whether it be here in town, or out of town.  Like sunny Los Angeles, San Diego, or Palm Springs.  So yes, i will be all over the place in the next couple weeks, and as the weather changes from Winter to Spring, I find the outside world to be very beautiful.  Like the sunsets and sunrises, the stars in the sky or the moon radiating rainbow lights, the brown grass turning green, dead trees becoming alive again... It's great!
My point, what's the purpose of a birthday?  Why do we celebrate the one who was born?  Shouldn't it be the mother?  Since it's normally her who is in pain and labor for a number of hours...Why celebrate getting another year older?  What if something bad and life changing happens on your birthday, would you still celebrate it?  I've been thinking, and what is the point of having a birthday party?  I've had a birthday party almost every year since I was born, some more extravagant and people-filled than others, but a party nonetheless.  Then I meet people who make me think, and this is my way of getting it out.
So, somebody please tell me, what's the point in celebrating a birthday?  Also, why don't we just have a party everyday?  Because there's a child born every freaking minute!  Let's just party our whole lives yeah?  Ugh.  This is ridiculous.  But seriously, answer my question.  Please.

  1. I like the partying every minute idea... but thats just me :)

Honestly though, I think that birthday parties are just one way to look back at everything that we've done so far, and what we have to look forward to. Looking around us to see what friends we've left behind and those that have stayed by our sides. Its a good idea to do that more often than just once a year, but its still the idea behind it that makes a birthday so special. I think that the party says: this is what i've made of the last three hundred and sixty-five days and it hasn't been easy so now I'm gonna kick back and CELEBRATE!
